CVSA Brake Safety Week Dates, Focus Areas Announced
Every year the Commercial Vehicle Safety Alliance (CVSA) conducts Brake Safety Week which includes vehicle inspections, educating drivers/carriers, and provide inspection/violation data to the CVSA.
This year, Brake Safety Week falls on August 24th-30th. The focus area for this year is on drums and rotors, which can have an affect on vehicle’s brake efficiency.
The Brake Safety Week initiative’s goal is to improve brake safety throughout North America and to eliminate roadway crashes through their inspections and education. If vehicles are deemed to be in violation, they will be removed until fixed.
Sometimes truckers throughout this week will take it off to avoid the hassle of potential inspections. This in turn can have an impact on truckload capacity and rates, as less truckers on the road can raise prices and also potentially transit times.
