CPKC Holiday Train This Year Raises Over $1.8M

This year was the 25th anniversary of the Holiday Train, which ended up raising over $1.8 Canadian dollars (around 1.36 million USD).

“Once again, people in big cities and small towns across the CPKC network came together to celebrate the season and support their local communities,” said CPKC President and CEO Keith Creel, who also thanked the hundred of thousands of those who took part in viewing the Holiday Train the last month.

The Holiday Train, which ran from November 21st – December 19th, also collected over 160,000 pounds of food for local food banks and food programs throughout the U.S. and Canada.

Weekly Rail Traffic for the Week Ending December 23rd, 2023:

  • Total U.S. weekly rail traffic was 486,787 carloads and intermodal units – up 24.2 percent compared to last year, per AAR data.
  • U.S. weekly intermodal volume was 255,841 containers and trailers – up 24.7 percent.
  • Coal, motor vehicles and parts, and grain all saw increases compared to last year.
  • For the first 51 weeks of this year, rail volume in North America was 33,580,237 carloads and intermodal units, down 2.2 percent compared to last year.
